One of the most eagerly awaited is the Music Festival at Cap Roig where this year’s artists include James Morrison, Bob Dylan, Tony Bennet, Dame Kiri Te Kanawa and Simple Minds. It takes place from the 14^th July until the 18^th August in one of the Costa Brava’s most beautiful spots overlooking the bays of Golfet and Calella de Palafrugell.

The Torroella de Montgrí International Music Festival is staged in the architectural settings of the Sant Genís Gothic church, the town’s porticoed Gothic-Renaissance main square, and the former Augustinian convent.This festival has always kept western classical music as the backbone of its programme, though extra-musical components and offerings of other kinds and from other cultures have been making their way in over the years. This takes place from 21^st July until 23^rd August.

You can catch opera and classical music as well as Dionne Warwick and Harry Connick Jr at the International Music festival of Perelada from the 17^th July until the 22^nd August

In 1967, the Habaneras Recital of Calella de Palafrugell was officially started – an event which, year after year, manages to increase its ability to attract people. For any group of singers, participating in the Festival is a sign of great success. This takes place on 7^th July at Port Bo beach. In Calonge, their popular summer festival takes place on 9^th and 10^th July with the ‘geants, concerts, dancing and much more.

From 24^th-27^th July the best fireworks in the Costa Brava can be seen at the firework festival in Blanes

On 26^th August the 56th Tossa de Mar International Quick Painting Competition takes place when  participants must depict Tossa in a painting that has to be finished before 6pm
